Nico Dettmer
About
My name is Nico Dettmer. I have been photographing for a long time — but it truly took hold with the first digital cameras and my first long-haul trip in 2007 to the American West. Ever since, the hunt for the right light in the right moment hasn't let go.
I'm happiest where things are wild and wide open: with Africa's big cats, at Iceland's waterfalls and glacier lagoons, in the canyons and national parks of the USA. Now and then the exact opposite draws me in — a frog up close, a bird reduced to branch and light, or an empty mountain pass where I let the camera be a camera and let the roadster do the talking.
Technically, a Canon R system and the occasional drone are enough — the rest is patience and selection. I deliberately show little here: only the images that survived the edit. If one of them interests you as a print or licence, just drop me a line.
